Case Two

Diagnosis:

Herpes zoster with polyradiculitis of lumbosacral nerve roots. A lumbar puncture was performed which revealed an elevated protein and positive varicella titer. The remainder of the CSF was normal. An MRI showed enhancement of the lumbosacral nerve roots consistent with her clinical findings. She was treated with intravenous acyclovir and experienced complete resolution of her weakness after 4 to 5 days. She discharged home after a total of 7 days.
