View image

The double arrows point to the presence of a central area of low attenuation within the inferior vena cava compatible with a thrombosis of the inferior vena cava. A low attenuation lesion is noted of the liver.

LEFT EXTERNAL ILIAC VEIN THROMBOSIS

View second image

This axial CT scan of the pelvis was done with intravenous and oral contrast. The arrow points to the presence of low attenuation within the normal confines of the left external iliac vein and normal opacification of the contra-lateral side. This is compatible with a thrombus involving the left external iliac vein.

LEFT FEMORAL DEEP VENOUS THROMBOSIS

View third image

Axial scan of the lower abdomen done with the use of intravenous and oral contrast is presented.

There is a central area of low attenuation within an enlarged left femoral vein (arrow) surrounded by a rim of higher attenuation and is compatible with a left femoral thrombus.
